Origin, evolution, and fate of life on earth; history of evolutionary thought and study of fossils; development of life environments (habitats) and biotic communities; recent theories of evolution and mass extinction from an introductory paleontologic perspective. May require field trip. Cannot count for geology majors as upper division geology area of specialization.
