Chemistry Minor

A minor in Chemistry will benefit students earning a degree in the physical or biological sciences who are planning on pursuing employment or graduate degrees that are related to the chemical sciences.

Requirements for the Minor (25 Units)

Students must earn a minimum grade of C- in all courses with the “CHEM” prefix for the chemistry minor.

Lower Division

CHEM 109 - General Chemistry I Units: 5
CHEM 110 - General Chemistry II Units: 5

Upper Division

Complete 15 approved units, including at least one of the following sequences. A minimum of 8 upper division units must be earned at Cal Poly Humboldt.

CHEM 324 - Organic Chemistry I Units: 3
CHEM 324L - Organic Chemistry I Laboratory Units: 2

CHEM 341 - Quantitative Analysis Units: 5
CHEM 441 - Instrumental Analysis Units: 4
CHEM 361 - Physical Chemistry I Units: 3
CHEM 362 - Physical Chemistry II Units: 3
CHEM 363 - Physical Chemistry II Lab Units: 2
CHEM 434 - Biochemistry I Units: 3
