Geology Minor

The Geology minor is designed for students majoring in another department to broaden their understanding of geological sciences and related applications. The Geology minor emphasizes geologic field methods, earth systems history, identification and interpretation of rocks and minerals, and applications of geology related to natural resources, urban planning, geologic hazards, and environmental change.

Requirements for the Minor (17-18 Units)

GEOL 109 - General Geology Units: 4
GEOL 110 - Field Geology of the Western US Units: 1-2 (1 unit required)
GEOL 210 - Earth Systems History Units: 3
GEOL 335 - Geologic Field Methods I Units: 2
GEOL 312 - Earth Materials Units: 4
or
GEOL 332 - Sedimentary Geology Units: 4

Complete one of the following:

GEOL 300 - Geology of California Units: 3 and
GEOL 300L - Geology of California Field Trip Units: 1
GEOL 303 - Earth Resources and Global Environmental Change Units: 3
GEOL 306 - General Geomorphology Units: 3
GEOL 308 - Natural Disasters Units: 3
