GE Notes
GE requirements cannot be waived and other Cal Poly Humboldt courses cannot be substituted for approved GE courses. To fulfill a particular requirement, a course must be completed during the academic year in which the GE status is designated in the catalog. Courses that meet outcomes of more than one GE area 1-6, may only be used to satisfy one of those areas. Goals
Area 3: Arts and Humanities: Area 3 courses pertain to the arts and/or humanities. Activities may include participation in individual aesthetic, creative experiences. Students may take courses in languages other than English in partial fulfillment of this requirement if the courses do not focus solely on skills acquisition but also contain a substantial cultural component. This may include literature, among other content. Courses will guide students to accomplish the following content criteria: - cultivate intellect, imagination, sensibility, and sensitivity;
- respond subjectively as well as objectively to aesthetic experiences and develop an understanding of the integrity of both emotional and intellectual responses;
- cultivate and refine their affective, cognitive, and physical faculties through studying works of the human imagination; and
- develop a better understanding of the interrelationship between the self and the creative arts / humanities in a variety of cultures.
