Mathematics Minor

The Mathematics Minor is designed to expose students in other disciplines to the beauty of more advanced mathematics. Students in technical disciplines such as science and engineering will deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts and principles encountered while pursuing their major. A Mathematics Minor expands career opportunities, as mathematical proficiency is highly valued in many industries.

Requirements for the Minor (20-22 Units)

Complete one calculus series

MATH 109 - Calculus I Units: 4 ^[1]
MATH 110 - Calculus II Units: 4
or
MATH 105 - Calculus for the Biological Sciences and Natural Resources Units: 3
MATH 215 - Multivariate Calculus for the Biological Sciences and Natural Resources Units: 3
^[1]The MATH 109B & MATH 109C Calculus series may be taken in place of MATH 109.

Complete the intermediate mathematics pathway

MATH 107 - Introduction to Linear Algebra Units: 3
MATH 210 - Calculus III Units: 4
or
MATH 245 - Mathematical Experimentation and Proof Units: 4

Complete 7 upper division elective units

Approved courses to count towards this requirement include mathematics courses (MATH prefix), excluding MATH 301 , and STAT 323 .
