Goals

Area 1B Critical Thinking: Students will learn to understand logic and its relation to language; elementary inductive and deductive processes, including an understanding of the formal and informal fallacies of language and thought; and the ability to distinguish matters of fact from issues of judgment or opinion. To do so, students will develop their abilities to achieve the following content criteria:

1. analyze, criticize, and advocate ideas;
2. reason inductively and deductively; and
3. reach well-supported factual or judgmental conclusions.
