The Geospatial Basic Certificate provides foundational knowledge and skills in geospatial science-an applied field that uses GIS, remote sensing, and mapping technologies to analyze and visualize spatial data. The certificate focuses on core tools and concepts and is designed for non-degree-seeking students, graduate students, and undergraduates seeking to demonstrate baseline competency in Geospatial Science. Students may later pursue advanced, stackable geospatial certificates or convert basic certificate requirements to the Geospatial Analysis Minor .

Eligibility and Restrictions:

Units and Courses: Minimum grade C- in each course and 2.0 GPA in the certificate.

Stackability

This certificate may serve as a foundation for advanced stackable geospatial certificates (e.g., Geographic Information Science Certificate of Study , Remote Sensing Certificate of Study , Cartography Certificate of Study ). It is not stackable with the Geospatial Analysis Minor  and is not available to Geospatial Science and Technology majors.
