Native American Studies Minor

Requirements for the Minor (15-17)

Students take a total of 9 units of required courses plus 6-8 units (two courses) from one of two emphasis categories below.

Required Courses

NAS 104 - Introduction to Native American Studies Units: 3
NAS 200 - Indigenous Peoples in U.S. History Units: 3
NAS 306 - Indigenous Peoples of the Americas Units: 3

Emphasis Categories

Complete one of the following emphases (6-7 units) to fulfill the requirements of the minor.

Culture & Community Emphasis

NAS 301 - Native American Literature Units: 3
NAS 325 - Native Tribes of California Units: 3

Law & Policy Emphasis

Complete two courses.

NAS 331 - Indigenous Natural Resource Management Practices Units: 3
NAS 364 - Federal Indian Law I Units: 4
NAS 366 - Tribal Water Rights Units: 4
