Major Academic Plans


Major Academic Plans (or MAPS) show courses you might take each semester to meet your degree requirements. Students at Cal Poly Humboldt follow many different paths to graduation. Your educational and career goals, as well as personal interests all contribute to determining the courses you take. We encourage you to discuss course options with an advisor.

Build your personalized plan in DARS plans using the MAP as a resource. Meet with your advisor each semester to assist in planning and to review your progress. 

Set yourself up for academic success in historically difficult classes. Add a 1-unit Supplemental Instruction (SI) session to one or more of your classes. SI sessions are linked with specific classes.

Year 1


Semester 1 (15-17 Units)


[1] Credit earned for math support course (MATH 3) does not count toward unit requirements for GE, major or graduation

[2] If CD 209 is not available, take major course CD 211S .

Semester 2 (15-16 Units)


[3] If ENGL 104 was taken last semester, take GE Area A1 COMM 100 - Fundamentals of Speech Communication Units: 3   in place of ENGL 103.

[4] If CD 211S was taken last semester take CD 209 

Year 2

[5] If COMM 100 was taken last semester, take an elective, major or other GE course.
